Original: UAE Confirms Flydubai Co-Pilot Attempted Terror Attack on Flight to Israel
The UAE has confirmed that a Flydubai co-pilot attempted to carry out a terror attack on a flight bound for Israel. The announcement is notable given the UAE and Israel's normalised relations under the Abraham Accords, and raises fresh questions about airline security screening. Details about the co-pilot's motives and how the attempt was thwarted have not been fully disclosed.
Why now: A confirmed terror attempt by an airline crew member on a UAE-Israel route is a rare and serious security breach affecting regional relations and aviation safety.
