Letterboxd Is Up for Sale, Users Fear the Worst
Original: Letterboxd Is up for Sale. Say Goodbye to Fun. https:// lemmy.ca/post/71893668
Film logging and review platform Letterboxd has been put up for sale, prompting immediate concern among its community. Users are voicing worries that a new corporate owner could introduce ads, data harvesting, or algorithm-driven changes that would erode the site's close-knit, enthusiast-driven culture. Many commenters warn this could mark the end of the app's fun, community feel.
Why now: Users fear a sale will commercialize a beloved, ad-free community platform and change what made it enjoyable.
