Isabelle Faust joins Simon Rattle for all-Schumann programme

Original: @ classicalmusic Robert Schumann Ouvertüre zur Oper „Genoveva“ op. 81 Konzert für Violine und Orchester d-Moll WoO 1 Sin

A concert programme pairing three Robert Schumann works is drawing attention among classical music listeners: the overture to his opera Genoveva, the Violin Concerto in D minor, and the Second Symphony. Violinist Isabelle Faust performs the concerto with the Freiburger Barockorchester under conductor Sir Simon Rattle, a lineup combining period instruments with one of the world's leading conductors.

Why now: The rare combination of Isabelle Faust, the Freiburger Barockorchester and Simon Rattle performing Schumann's underplayed Violin Concerto is exciting classical music fans.
