Debate erupts over the era of software quality
Original: The era of software quality, or the era of ostriches?
A GNOME developer's blog post asking whether the industry is truly in an era of software quality or an 'era of ostriches' has sparked discussion on Hacker News. The piece, by Michael Catanzaro, argues that developers and companies may be ignoring mounting quality problems rather than addressing them, prompting readers to debate whether modern software is genuinely improving or regressing.
Why now: The post challenges widely held claims that AI and modern tooling have improved software quality, resonating with developers' current frustrations.
