Original: German Jewish artist Biermann says Israel’s Gaza attacks are a war crime

German Jewish artist Wolf Biermann has said Israel's attacks on Gaza constitute a war crime. The statement is drawing attention because of the artist's Jewish background and his long-standing public support for Israel, making his condemnation particularly striking in the ongoing debate over the Gaza war in Germany and beyond.
