Uceprotect accused of extorting website owners
Original: Tell HN: Uceprotect is extorting website owners
Website owners are voicing fresh anger at Uceprotect, a German email blacklist operator, accusing the company of extorting site administrators. Critics say the service lists broad IP ranges and then charges money for delisting, pressuring small operators into paying to restore normal email delivery. Defenders counter that blocklists are free to use and that listing is automated, not a shakedown. The debate has reignited a long-running dispute over how DNS blocklists are run and funded.
Why now: A widely read accusation that a major email blacklist operator effectively charges website owners for removal has reignited debate about its practices.
