Killing Joke's self-titled debut album was released on this day in 1980, marking 46 years since the British post-punk band first arrived. The record was essentially captured live in the studio, built on bass, drums, guitar, vocals and electronics pushed to maximum tension, and was produced by the band itself. Fans are marking the anniversary by revisiting what many regard as a landmark of early 1980s alternative music.

Why now: Music fans are marking the 46th anniversary of the album's original 1980 release.
