Police arrested twelve people following a protest connected to the arrival of a migrant boat. The demonstration, reportedly opposing the arrival, led to the detentions as authorities responded on the scene. The story is being covered by BBC News and drawing attention amid ongoing debate in the UK over Channel crossings and the government's handling of small boat arrivals.
Why now: Tensions over small boat crossings remain a charged political issue in the UK, so any protest and arrests attract immediate attention.
