Claims are circulating that immigration enforcement operations, likened to Gestapo-style tactics, are happening daily across rural America. Critics point to Border Patrol commander Gregory Bovino, local police and sheriff's offices signing 287(g) agreements with ICE, and what they call profit-driven arrests of immigrants. Supporters of enforcement view the same operations differently, making immigration raids a flashpoint in rural communities.

Why now: Ongoing immigration enforcement operations and local law enforcement cooperation with ICE are drawing strong public reaction.
