RSF-SPLM-N alliance claims advance near Blue Nile capital
Original: Daily_Brief: RSF-SPLM-N alliance claims advance near Blue Nile capital as Sudan army says attack repelled
An alliance of Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N faction says it has advanced near Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile state. The Sudanese army rejects the claim, saying it repelled the attack. The rival accounts come as the two-year war between the army and the RSF spreads into new regions, raising fears of fresh fighting along the Ethiopian border.
Why now: Sudan's civil war is expanding into Blue Nile state, making conflicting battlefield claims highly newsworthy.
