Solar Array Proposed for Old Landfill Site
Original: Town committees hear proposal for solar array on old landfill
Harpswell town committees have heard a proposal to build a solar array on the town's old landfill. The idea would repurpose land that cannot easily be developed for other uses, turning a closed site into a source of renewable energy. Details such as project size, cost and who would build and operate the array have not yet been settled, and the proposal remains at an early stage.
Why now: Local residents and officials are weighing whether a closed landfill could be put to productive use as renewable energy land.
