Djokovic reaches Beijing final after Medvedev default

Original: China Open 2026: Novak Djokovic reaches Beijing final after Daniil Medvedev default – "I feel sorry for Daniil"

Novak Djokovic has advanced to the final of the 2026 China Open in Beijing after opponent Daniil Medvedev was defaulted from their semi-final. Djokovic expressed sympathy for his rival, saying 'I feel sorry for Daniil'. The default sends the Serbian through to a final he would otherwise have had to earn on court.

Why now: Medvedev's default in a high-profile semi-final involving Djokovic is unusual and dramatic tennis news.
