Singapore orders platforms to block anti-Indian content
Original: BIG NEWS - Singapore Govt directs social media platforms to block content that targets Indian community.
The Singapore government has directed social media platforms to block content that targets the Indian community, according to a report circulating widely online. The move signals official action against online material deemed harmful or hateful toward Indians, in line with Singapore's strict approach to maintaining racial and religious harmony. Reactions online are highlighting the government's willingness to intervene directly with tech platforms over communal content.
Why now: Government intervention against online content targeting a specific ethnic community is unusual and raises debate over moderation and free speech.
