Dutch parliament committee seeks answers on public digital spaces letter
Original: Happy to see our @ publicspaces letter to parliament getting more traction. The committee on digital affairs has request
The digital affairs committee of the Dutch House of Representatives has asked the minister and state secretary to formally respond to a letter from the Public Spaces foundation, which campaigns for public alternatives to commercial digital platforms. The organisation behind the letter welcomed the move, saying the request shows its concerns are gaining traction in parliament. The exchange, published in the chamber's official documents, signals growing political attention to public-interest digital infrastructure in the Netherlands.
Why now: Parliamentary scrutiny of public digital infrastructure advocacy is advancing, drawing attention from people following EU and Dutch digital policy debates.
