Censors Shift from Book Bans to Internet Control
Original: # censorship of books is old fashion for dictators. The modern way is # InternetCensorship . As well as hunting bloggers
Commenters are arguing that censorship of books is an outdated tool of dictators, and that modern authoritarian regimes instead rely on internet censorship, including hunting down bloggers and activists. The claim frames internet control as the contemporary replacement for book bans, tying together debates over book bans, online speech restrictions and persecution of dissenters.
Why now: Ongoing global concern about internet censorship and persecution of online voices has made the comparison to traditional book bans resonate.
