Relic's Latin-American dance programme stirs debate over genre
Original: Relic presents lively Latin-American dances but it’s not opera, Doc
The early-music ensemble Relic has been performing a programme of lively Latin-American dances in New York, drawing a review from New York Classical Review. The reviewer praises the energy of the dances but questions the billing, arguing the repertoire on offer is not opera despite how it was framed.
Why now: A fresh review questioning how the concert was labelled has given classical music audiences something to debate.
