Star Trek scripts treated like sacred texts, commentator alarmed
Original: Me asusta cuando me entero de que hay 10.000 personas que tratan a los guiones de Star Trek como si fueran las sagradas
A Spanish-language sociology commentator says they are alarmed that thousands of fans treat Star Trek scripts as if they were sacred scriptures, likening the show's fandom to a religion. The writer links the phenomenon to Gene Roddenberry's vision, framing the franchise as an object of near-religious devotion and as material for sociological study of how fandoms take on spiritual traits.
Why now: The comparison between science fiction fandom and religious devotion is striking enough to spark debate about fan culture as a belief system.
