FCC Grants Robot Vacuum Maker Exemption From Foreign Robot Ban

Original: FCC Gives This Robot Vacuum Maker an Exemption From Foreign-Made Robot Ban

The US Federal Communications Commission has granted an exemption to a robot vacuum manufacturer from restrictions on foreign-made robots, according to PCMag. The move allows the company to keep selling its devices in the American market even as the FCC tightens rules on connected robotics equipment made abroad, a policy aimed largely at Chinese technology firms.

Why now: New US restrictions on foreign-made connected robots are affecting popular consumer products, and the exemption signals which companies will be allowed to keep operating.
