A homeowner has blocked every television in their house from internet access, using firewall rules on their OpnSense router to cut off LG, Sony, Roku and TCL sets. The move targets smart TV telemetry and tracking, and has resonated with others concerned about how much data connected TVs collect.
Why now: Growing concern about smart TV privacy and automatic data collection is prompting people to lock down their devices.
