Apple TV has commissioned a second season of its thriller 'Imperfect Women.' Rather than continuing the limited series directly, the new season will take a spinoff approach, following Eleanor, one of the show's three lead characters, played by Kerry Washington. The move extends a limited series into an ongoing franchise, a strategy increasingly common among streaming platforms seeking to build on successful titles.

Why now: The unexpected decision to turn a limited series into a spinoff, with a major star attached, is generating attention in entertainment news.
