Original: Sudanese fleeing attacks by paramilitary RSF in Blue Nile region, aid agency says
An aid agency reports that Sudanese civilians are fleeing attacks by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in Sudan's Blue Nile region, adding a new front to the country's devastating conflict. The RSF has been fighting the Sudanese army since April 2023, displacing millions and pushing parts of the country toward famine. Aid groups warn they lack the resources to cope with the latest wave of displacement.
Why now: The RSF's expansion of its offensive into the Blue Nile region has triggered a fresh wave of civilian displacement, drawing attention from aid agencies and media.
