Chinese immigrant vents over taxes, rent and stalled citizenship
Original: 疫情起来了润到这地方算下来缴的税加房租也有300个了，没批公民还得每天继续搬砖真是够了，而且AI现在这么厉害也让搬砖毫无成就感，，，，
A Chinese migrant who relocated abroad during the pandemic says taxes and rent have cost them around 300,000, yet their citizenship application has not been approved, leaving them stuck working daily. They add that the rise of capable AI has drained any sense of achievement from their job. The post captures frustration among educated emigrants over high living costs, uncertain immigration status and shrinking career meaning.
Why now: It taps into current anxieties about emigration, residency approval, cost of living and AI replacing meaningful work.
