Original: Chimpanzees steal less pineapple from their friends https:// fed.brid.gy/r/https://www.pops ci.com/environment/chimpanze
Chimpanzees are less likely to steal food, such as pineapple, from individuals they consider friends, according to a Popular Science report on new research. The findings suggest the animals recognize social relationships and restrain their taking from bonded partners, offering further evidence that friendship-like dynamics influence behavior in wild chimpanzee groups.
Why now: Fresh animal behavior research showing chimps apply friendship rules to food theft is charming and shareable
