New Congress Bill Would Block Sites and Target VPNs
Original: Congress Has Another Site-Blocking Bill, and This One Targets VPNs https:// packetstorm.news/news/view/447 04 # news
US lawmakers have introduced another site-blocking bill, and this one would also go after VPN services used to circumvent the blocks. Critics say the measure revives long-contested internet censorship proposals and could affect tools many Americans use daily. Digital rights advocates have historically opposed similar bills, warning of overbroad filtering and surveillance risks, while supporters argue it is needed to enforce existing law against foreign sites.
Why now: Renewed legislative interest in site blocking and VPN restrictions raises fresh concerns about internet censorship and civil liberties.
