Republicans criticize Steve Hilton's 'creepy' campaign ad
Original: Republicans criticize ‘creepy’ innuendo-filled Steve Hilton campaign ad https://www. theguardian.com/us-news/2026/o ct/0
Republicans, including figures within Steve Hilton's own party, are criticizing a campaign ad from the Fox News host turned California gubernatorial candidate, calling it 'creepy' and full of innuendo. The ad has drawn a backlash within conservative circles ahead of the 2026 midterm races, with critics arguing it undermines rather than helps his campaign.
Why now: A Republican candidate's own party is publicly condemning his campaign ad, making it notable intra-party news in the California governor's race.
