Saudi-backed Yemeni forces retake areas near Bab el-Mandeb from Houthis

Original: 🔴 BREAKING Saudi-backed Yemeni forces retake areas near Bab el-Mandeb Strait from Houthis Saudi-backed Yemeni government

Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces have launched a rapid offensive, pushing Iran-backed Houthi fighters out of most areas seized last month around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, up to the city of Mocha. The strait is a critical maritime chokepoint for global shipping, so any shift in control there draws wide international attention amid ongoing Red Sea tensions.

Why now: The recapture of territory near a vital global shipping chokepoint signals a significant shift in the Yemen conflict and Red Sea security.
