Skweezy Jibbs Comedy Character Turned Into Indie Film Touring 60 Cities
Original: ‘Skweezy Jibbs Makes a Movie’: How I Turned a TikTok Comedy Character Into an Indie Film That Toured 60 Cities
Filmmaker behind the Skweezy Jibbs comedy character has made an indie feature, 'Skweezy Jibbs Makes a Movie', built from the viral persona and taken on a tour of 60 cities. Writing about the project, he describes how an online comedy act was turned into a feature film with a real theatrical run rather than a streaming release, a rare path for character-based social media comedy.
Why now: The unusual leap from a short-form comedy character to a self-distributed indie film screening across 60 cities is drawing attention from film and comedy fans.
