Original: CHICKEN LITTLE This is an illustration that I created for a Tomie dePalo Award competition, from the Society of Children
Illustrator Gretchen K. Deahl has created a new illustration of the classic tale Chicken Little, submitted to the Tomie dePaola Award competition run by the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. The artwork is also being sold as prints through her online shop. The piece draws on the well-known folk story, and the award honors the late picture-book creator Tomie dePaola, whose legacy remains influential in children's publishing.
Why now: The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators is currently running its Tomie dePaola Award competition, prompting artists to share their entries.
