Trump open to establishing US military base in Lithuania

Original: Trump says he ‘will certainly look at’ establishing US military base in Lithuania

President Donald Trump said he 'will certainly look at' establishing a permanent US military base in Lithuania, responding to calls from the Baltic state for a stronger American military footprint on NATO's eastern flank. The statement is being closely watched in the region, where Baltic governments have long sought a larger US presence as a deterrent against Russia. No decision has been announced on whether a base will actually be established.

Why now: Any potential US military expansion near Russia's border carries major implications for NATO's deterrence posture and regional security.
