FlyDubai co-pilot accused of terrorist attack in cockpit stabbing
Original: Co-pilot once barred in Oman accused of 'terrorist attack' in FlyDubai cockpit stabbing
A FlyDubai co-pilot who had previously been barred from entering Oman is accused of carrying out what authorities are calling a terrorist attack after a stabbing in the aircraft's cockpit. The case is drawing attention to how the man passed airline vetting despite his earlier ban, and to cockpit security procedures at the carrier.
Why now: The serious terrorism allegation against an active airline pilot, combined with reports he was previously barred from Oman, is prompting questions about aviation security vetting.
