White House bars Politico from press access
Original: White House bars Politico
The White House has barred Politico from access, a move that is drawing attention amid ongoing disputes between the administration and parts of the press. Commenters are debating whether the exclusion amounts to retaliation against coverage the administration dislikes or a broader tightening of media access. Press freedom advocates say restricting an outlet's access sets a worrying precedent, while supporters of the decision argue outlets must be held accountable for their reporting.
Why now: People are reacting to an unprecedented or contentious restriction of a major news outlet's access to the White House.
