Original: Pigeon Dads Step Up in Tough Times https://nautil.us/pigeon-dads-step-up-in-tough-times-1285543/ # Science # Zoology # A
New research highlighted by Nautilus shows male pigeons increase their parental effort when circumstances become difficult, taking on more of the work of raising chicks. The findings offer a window into how bird couples share caregiving duties and adapt their behaviour under stress, and are drawing attention among animal behaviour enthusiasts.
Why now: People enjoy surprising animal behaviour findings that show unexpected devotion, and this one plays on the humble pigeon's image.
