NFL hands out rare punishment to two offenders
Original: NFL just doled out a punishment it hasn't used in 8 years -- to two separate offenders
The NFL has issued a punishment it has not used in eight years, and it applied the penalty to two separate offenders, according to CBS Sports. The league has not specified publicly in the headline which players or teams were involved or what rule violations triggered the rare disciplinary measure, but the unusual double use of a lapsed punishment is drawing attention around the league.
Why now: The NFL rarely uses this type of punishment, so its deployment against two offenders at once is notable to football fans.
