Steve Hilton, the former Fox News host running for office in California, is facing backlash from fellow Republicans over a campaign ad they describe as creepy and filled with innuendo. The criticism comes from within his own party, with Republicans publicly faulting the spot's tone as inappropriate rather than effective campaigning.

Why now: The unusual intra-party criticism of a high-profile candidate's ad is drawing attention amid his campaign.
