A US envoy has held a rare direct meeting with Sudan's army chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, as Washington presses for an end to the country's devastating civil war. The talks signal renewed American diplomatic engagement with Khartoum's leadership, though details of what was discussed remain limited and no breakthrough has been announced.
