A software developer writes that their work changed completely this year, saying they no longer write code and reflecting on how AI tools have replaced much of the hands-on work with frameworks, languages and libraries that once defined the job. The post asks what the role actually involves now, and it has struck a chord with other programmers weighing similar shifts in their own careers.
Why now: Many developers are questioning how AI is reshaping programming careers right now.
