Ubisoft leadership says the Watch Dogs franchise remains 'important' to the company's future, but fans should not expect a new entry in the hacking-themed open-world series anytime soon. The comments suggest the series is on hold while Ubisoft focuses on its bigger franchises, leaving the future of Watch Dogs uncertain despite its continued strategic value to the publisher.
Why now: Ubisoft is going through restructuring and fans are anxious about the fate of its franchises, so a boss confirming Watch Dogs is shelved for now draws attention
