Matic robot vacuum wins first FCC ban waiver
Original: The Matic is the first robovac to get an FCC ban waiver, not that it needs it https://www.theverge.com/policy/1004926/ma
Matic has become the first robot vacuum maker to receive a waiver from an FCC ban, according to The Verge. The FCC had restricted certain devices over security concerns, and Matic's conditional approval lets it continue selling in the US. The report notes the robovac arguably doesn't need the waiver, given its design and data handling.
Why now: The FCC ban on connected devices has raised concerns for robotics and smart home companies, making the first waiver notable.
