Central Montana is seeing unusually hot, dry weather, with new daily record highs of 28C in Red Lodge and 31C in Billings. Humidity has dropped to 8-14% across the area under strong upper-level ridging. Observers note that vegetation is drying out fast, and any wind combined with an ignition could cause fires to spread quickly.
