Alaska wildlife agency backs Trump rollback of endangered species protections
Original: ADF&G approves of Trump administration curtailing Endangered Species Act protections
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has voiced approval of the Trump administration's move to curtail protections under the Endangered Species Act. The state agency's position aligns Alaska with federal efforts to reduce regulatory restrictions, a shift likely to draw criticism from conservation groups concerned about wildlife safeguards.
Why now: A state agency publicly endorsing a federal weakening of endangered species protections is a contentious policy development.
