A Wall Street Journal opinion column argues that China conducts espionage on Taiwanese individuals inside the United States, citing the arrest of Wanying Zhang at Los Angeles airport. The piece frames the case as evidence that Beijing's surveillance of Taiwanese dissidents and activists extends onto American soil, raising questions about US protection of Taiwan-affiliated residents.
Why now: The arrest of a suspected Chinese agent at Los Angeles airport has reignited debate over Chinese espionage targeting Taiwanese people in the US.
