Original: novak djokovic daniil medvedev

Novak Djokovic is through to the final of the ATP tournament in Beijing after Daniil Medvedev was defaulted from their semi-final match. The default means Medvedev was removed from the contest, handing Djokovic a place in the title match without needing to complete the encounter. The incident is drawing attention across tennis coverage, with fans and commentators discussing how the match ended and what it means for both players going into the final.

Why now: A high-profile semi-final ending in a default rather than a result is rare and controversial, sparking widespread discussion.
