Brazilian broadcaster Globo is facing accusations that it canceled a planned debate because the main candidates would not attend, and that it is instead amplifying polarization between Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro. One widely shared comment calls the network 'a cancer for the country' and dismisses its pro-democracy and debate rhetoric as empty. The criticism reflects deep distrust of mainstream media among parts of the Brazilian public heading into the election season.

Why now: Anger over Globo canceling a debate and allegedly favoring a Lula vs. Flávio Bolsonaro framing is circulating among Brazilian social media users.
