$19 million push aims to widen access to connectome technology
Original: Beyond wiring diagrams: Inside a $19 million effort to expand access to connectome technology
A $19 million initiative is underway to make connectome technology—tools that map the full wiring of the brain—accessible to far more research teams. Reporting by The Transmitter describes an effort to go beyond static wiring diagrams, expanding who can generate and use detailed neural connectivity maps. The funding is expected to lower barriers for labs previously unable to afford large-scale connectomics.
Why now: New funding to democratize brain-mapping technology is notable to neuroscience researchers watching the growing connectomics field.
