New website owner puzzled by surge of US traffic

A developer reports that four days after launching their website, the majority of visitors are coming from the United States, despite having no expectation of a US-heavy audience. The observation was shared within programming and web development communities, prompting discussion about why early traffic skews toward US users and what that means for a new site's growth.
Why now: New founders commonly see unexpected US-dominated early traffic, so the observation resonates with developers and indie makers.
