A nature photographer shared close-up images of Dacrymyces spathularia, a bright fan-shaped jelly fungus, noting its striking texture. The fungus is edible but not particularly flavorful, and the photographer says it rarely appears in quantities worth harvesting, so it is best admired where it grows. The images are drawing appreciation from mushroom and fungi enthusiasts.
Why now: Striking macro photography of an unusual-looking fungus resonates with the online mushroom-watching community.
