An estimated 150-to-250-year-old tree was reportedly cut down as construction of President Trump's border wall continues along the US-Mexico border. Critics say much of what is happening at the border is no longer being covered by mainstream media, and the tree's destruction is being shared largely through social media and resistance networks as a symbol of environmental loss.

Why now: People are sharing the destruction of a centuries-old tree as an example of border wall damage they believe is underreported by mainstream outlets
