UN condemns deadly airstrike on aid trucks in Sudan
Original: UN condemns deadly airstrike on marked aid trucks in Sudan amid humanitarian crisis
The United Nations has condemned an airstrike on a convoy of clearly marked aid trucks in Sudan, which killed an unknown number of people and destroyed humanitarian supplies. The attack comes as the country faces a severe humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced and facing famine conditions amid the ongoing conflict between the army and paramilitary forces.
Why now: A strike on clearly marked aid vehicles in the middle of a humanitarian catastrophe is drawing international outrage and renewed attention to civilian and humanitarian protections in Sudan's war.
