Milford pauses Flock license plate cameras over privacy concerns

Original: Milford votes to pause Flock cameras amid surveillance concerns; data breach

Milford, Connecticut has voted to pause its use of Flock safety cameras, citing surveillance concerns and a data breach tied to the company's systems. The decision makes the town one of a growing number of communities re-examining agreements with the license plate reader network over how data is collected, shared and protected.

Why now: A local government suspending surveillance cameras over a data breach raises wider questions about privacy and municipal tech deals.
