Greg Dawson's book Judgment Before Nuremberg tells the story of the Kharkov trials of 1943, in which Nazi perpetrators were tried for mass killings of Jews and others in Ukraine, two years before the more famous Nuremberg trials. Readers are highlighting the work as an overlooked chapter of Holocaust history, arguing the first war crimes tribunal of the Second World War deserves wider recognition.

Why now: Readers are sharing and recommending the book as a lesser-known account of the first Nazi war crimes trial.
